General Rules and Guidelines

With the submission of an abstract or a symposium to IPOS 2024, the first author (submitting author):

  • Accepts responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted abstracts.
  • All abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in the digital abstract book and on the congress website prior to the congress.
  • There is no submission fee.
  • Symposiums and abstracts may not be edited/updated after final submission.
  • The submission form allows you to save your abstracts as a draft in order to make changes prior to submission.
  • Your abstract is not successfully submitted until you receive a confirmation e-mail after clicking the final submit button. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please contact us.
  • One symposium should contain four abstracts.
  • In case your symposium is rejected, please note that all abstracts within this symposium are automatically reviewed individually and potentially accepted separately.
  • Abstracts should be submitted in English.
  • Confirms that all authors are aware of and agree to the content of the abstract and support the data presented.
  • Confirms the abstract is not under review for presentation or publication elsewhere and has not been previously presented or published in its most current format.
  • Confirms that the chair will register before 30 June 2024 and attend the congress. The congress is an in-person congress, digital or online participation is not possible.
  • The submitting author will receive all correspondence about the abstract. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that the submitting author also acts as corresponding author.
  • Abstracts of authors who have not registered for the congress before 1 August 2024 will not be included in the program or publication.
  • The International Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject the abstracts which do not follow these guidelines or may request a revision by the presenter prior to acceptance.
  • The International Scientific Committee reserves the right to accept or reject individual abstract(s) of this symposium and to place them elsewhere in case they find this more fitting.

Submission Formats Abstracts

In order to be considered, an abstract must follow the following guidelines:

  • Abstract titles should be brief (maximum of 30 words) and should reflect the content of the abstract.
  • Commercial names may not be used in the abstract title.
  • No more than 10 authors can be listed.
  • Professional title, institutional affiliations, cities, and countries for each author should follow.
  • Abstract text is required for all symposium, podium, and poster submissions.
  • Abstract text should be submitted in structured paragraph format.
  • Please pay attention to spelling and accuracy as what is entered cannot be modified at a later date.
  • Submissions must follow either the clinical or research format and either format can present patient-oriented content.·

 

Clinical Abstracts:

The clinical stream refers to items such as development of innovative programs or interventions/service delivery/model of care.

Length limit: 1600 characters (including spaces)

Headings:

  • Background/rationale
  • Methodology (needs assessment, theoretical model, description of intervention, outcome measures)
  • Impact on clinical practice
  • Discussion (lessons learned, future direction)

 

Research Abstracts:

The research stream refers to work that is primarily based on the scientific method of discovery of hypothesis testing or theory development. This stream can include work from protocols to review and studies of various design.

Length limit: 1600 characters (including spaces)

Headings:

  • Objectives/purpose
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion and clinical implications

Submission Formats Symposium

In order to be considered, a symposium must follow the following guidelines:

  • Symposium titles should be brief and should reflect the content of the symposium.
  • Commercial names may not be used in the symposium title.
  • Length limit: 1600 characters (including spaces)
  • Invite people to submit abstracts for the symposium. This can be done at the end of the submission form. After entering their name and e-mail address, click on the Invite-button. The invitee receives an email with a link to your personal abstract page. The contact person of the symposium will receive a copy by email. You can invite to a maximum of 4 people.
  • Symposia have a duration of 1,5 hour.
  • Please pay attention to spelling and accuracy.

 

Symposium Abstracts:

Abstracts can be sumbitted as part of a symposium. Please note that you need a unique code for this, this code can be provided by the symposium organizer.

 

Pre-conference workshops:

Submitting a pre-conference workshop for IPOS 2024 can only be done online via the online symposium submission form. Please read carefully the instructions in the module on how to submit this pre-conference workshop.

 

Round table symposium:

Round table sessions can be used for a more interactive sessions-involving the audience. For example, for setting up a research network for an innovative methodology, or to determine a research agenda on a specific topic.

  • The available time is 75 minutes.
  • Round tables should consist of (a) short introduction(s) by one or more chairpersons and a general discussion, if needed in smaller groups.
  • A clear outcome of the session should be established, e.g. a research network, or new research questions on the topic of the round table.
  • One round table initiator prepares a 250 word max proposal and additionally include (max 50 words) a note on how this round table aims to build bridges for health.
  • The round table initiator completes the symposium submission form.

Presentation Language

The official language of IPOS 2024 is English.

 

Abstract Selection Procedure

Abstracts will be judged solely on the following criteria.
  • Significance and Relevance
  • Innovation
  • Approach and Findings
  • Implications
  • Clarity
The IPOS 2024 International Scientific Committee will select abstract for orals, poster and symposia presentations before 15 May 2024. The submitting author will receive an email with the decision of the Scientific Committee. If a selected author cannot attend, the presenting author should assign a replacement. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reallocate abstracts as necessary. All presenting authors must register for the full conference.
