Luigi Grassi
Luigi Grassi, MD, MPhil is Professor and Chair of Psychiatry, Head of the Department of Neuroscience and Rehabilitation, University of Ferrara, Italy, and Chief of the University Integrated Unit of Hospital Psychiatry, S. Anna University Hospital in Ferrara, Italy.
He has been the President of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) (2006-2008), chair of the International Federation of the Psycho-Oncology Societies (2008-2015) and of the World Psychiatric Association Section on Psycho-Oncology and Palliative Care (2005-present). He has been the recipient of the IPOS Arthur Sutherland Award in 2012.
At a national level, he is amongst the founding members of the Italian Society of Psycho-Oncology in 1985 that he chaired from 2003 to 2011 and of which he is now Honorary President, while currently he chairs the Italian Society of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
His clinical and research activity regards psycho-oncology, consultation-liaison psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and psychosocial rehabilitation in psychiatry. He is author of more than 250 scientific papers, chapters of books as well as editor of books for Oxford University Press, Wiley and Springer. He is the co-editor with Michelle Riba and Dinesh Bhugra the series “Integrating Psychiatry and Primary Care”, for Springer, Berlin-New York.
